As parents we are always concerned about the development of our children, but sometimes the dynamics of life take us a bit from our goal.
It is important to avoid neglecting this aspect that is of vital importance for the social development of our children. Creating a positive learning environment at home is the key to achieving these goals that begin at school.
General educational experience indicates that children whose parents are involved in their education tend to perform much better in their school environment and, therefore, obtain the best results. When you support your child's learning at home, you are helping them reinforce what they learned at school and prepare them for life.
Tips on how to support your children's learning at home:
• Do you read with your children? It is important to set aside free time to read with our children. Reading is essential for learning. Reading will allow our children to foster a love for learning. It will favor their communication skills and encourage their critical thinking; They will expand their vocabulary and their understanding of the world, which will help them grow. Don't just read the schoolbooks, research the topics your child would like to read about. As you read, ask your child questions about what they are reading to encourage comprehension.
• Do you help with your child 's homework? Do not leave the children alone solving the school task. Ask them about the assigned homework and if they feel comfortable doing it. Review the assignment before, during, and after the assignment is done. Give them feedback, suggestions, share insights that help them solve, but never solve it for them. This will not only help them with the current task, but it will also teach them important skills that they can use to solve future problems.
• Are you located in a proper learning environment? According to your conditions, designate a fixed space for studying. Make sure it's a quiet, well-lit place and free from distractions.
• Do you talk to your child about school? Be sure to talk with your child about what is happening at school and what they are learning. Ask them about their day, what they learned, and how they feel about the school environment. This will help you stay connected to your child's education and provide you with opportunities to offer support and guidance.
By supporting educational expansion through reading, completing homework, and creating a positive learning environment we prepare our children for a brighter future. As a parent, participating in your child's education takes on a valuable impact, so you must take an active role in it.
